# Automatic sync

> Keep the portal up to date without pressing anything.

Double-click **4 Turn on automatic sync** on the office computer and choose:

    New and changed files appear in the portal about **a minute after they're saved**. The sync program keeps running in the background and keeps the computer awake, though the screen can still turn off.

    It waits until a file stops changing before sending it, so half-saved files aren't uploaded. It also does a full check when it starts and every few hours.

  <Tab title="Once a day">
    Syncs at a time you choose, for example 19:00. On a Mac, if the computer is asleep at that time, the sync runs when it wakes.

Either way, the computer must be on and someone must be logged in.

## Stopping it

Double-click **5 Turn off automatic sync**. This is also your emergency stop. Linkatect can pause syncing from its side at any time too. While it's paused, the kit reports *paused* and does nothing.

## Checking what happened

Double-click **6 Open sync history** to see a log for each day. Studio's project list also shows **Last synced**.
