# Welcome to Linkatect

> All project files in one place. Your client portal stays up to date automatically, straight from your office server.

Linkatect gives every project a private portal for your clients, builders and contractors. You don't have to upload anything. A small sync program on your office computer reads your project folders and sends new and changed files to the portal. Your folder rules decide where each file goes and who can see it.

## Who these guides are for

* **Studio staff**: architects and designers who manage projects in **Studio**.
* **Whoever sets up the office computer**: the person who installs the sync kit next to your server or NAS.
* **Clients, builders and contractors**: people who open a project from an invitation link. See [Opening your project portal](/clients/opening-the-portal).

## What Linkatect never does

<Check>It **only reads** your server. It never edits, moves or deletes your files.</Check>
<Check>It never deletes anything from the portal. A newer revision replaces an older one, and the older one is kept.</Check>
<Check>New studios start empty. Each studio sees only its own projects and files.</Check>
